Calamity Jane
- at Winston Churchill Theatre
Boisterous Western Musical
Lyrics by Paul Francis Webster, music by Sammy Fain. In 1876, Calamity Jane dresses like a man, carries a gun and runs the stagecoach from Deadwood City, South Dakota. She and Bill Hickok delight in trying to out-do each other with tales of bravado, but she has lost her heart to Lieutenant Gilmartin. When Calamity promises to bring a Chicago star to sing in the saloon - but brings the wrong girl - her jealous rage gets her in trouble, particularly when the girl becomes a hit with the Lieutenant. The show features many wonderful songs including Deadwood Stage, Windy City and My Secret Love. This amateur production presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd.
