Wine Bar

Like the Coffee Bar, training is given for running the Wine bar and it's not essential if you have had some prior experience, but can be useful. At fuller houses, the Wine Bar can be very busy so whenever possible, training is carried out on our quieter nights.

The Bar opens at most evening performances and there are on average 4 of these per week. Usually working as one of a pair, the role involves arriving an hour before the show starts to set up which includes topping up stock, checking the float, preparing ice and lemon and generally preparing for business.

The busiest time for the Wine Bar is during the interval. We encourage customers to order interval drinks at the bar before the first act, which helps take some of the pressure off. After the interval there is some clearing up to do, but our glass washer takes most of the strain.

On Fridays and Saturdays the bar can also be open after the show and our Wine Bar volunteers finish between 10.45pm and 11pm, otherwise the bar closes after the interval, ensuring a much earlier finish.

The skills you will need to do this kind of work are:
Customer service skills, a warm and friendly manner, the ability to handle cash, work under pressure and be conscientious about hygiene.
